Trends are interesting to me.  Whether it is planking, photo bombing, bitstrips, the use of hash tags, trends come and go.  If you don't like something, just give it time; it'll pass.

The last 2 weeks I started seeing more and more Ice Bucket Challenge videos and reference to ALS.  ALS is also known as Lou Gehrig's disease & is a rare neurodegenerative disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord impacting on average 1 in 50,000 people a year.
Since July 15th this year, over 2 million videos were uploaded (to social media) and over $15 million dollars has been donated to ALS Research.  I don't typically give in to peer pressure or take part in many challenges but after watching the video on the story of Pete Frates a 29 year old former Boston college baseball player's struggle with ALS; I had an instant change of heart.  I accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge & I donated $100 in honor of Pete.  If you want to have some fun, take part in the plunge & then challenge a friend to do the same.  If you just want to donate, you can do that too.

Peter Frates: How one man accepted the challenge

Whoops:  take 2 on the Ice Bucket Challenge
